Ellie was found abandoned at a gas station when she was only six weeks old. When she was brought to the shelter, staff quickly noticed that little Ellie was exhibiting symptoms that were likely neurological. While other shelters may have immediately euthanized Ellie, shelter staff saw what a will to live sweet Ellie had and reached out to our friends at Itsie Bitsie Rescue to see if they’d be able to take her into their life-saving programs. Itsie Bitsie Rescue said they’d love to take her in, but due to recent medical cases, they were short on funds. Rescue Coordinator Shasta reached out to TEAM to inquire if we’d be willing to partner with Itsie Bitsie Rescue to help provide for Ellie’s medical care! We of course said yes! Foster Coordinator Jami worked to get little Ellie into temporary foster care until Itsie Bitsie found a foster for her.

Itsie Bitsie Rescue and TEAM worked together to fund an MRI at the UC Davis Veterinary Hospital to help determine the cause of Ellie’s symptoms. The MRI showed a malformation of the brain, which explains her wobbly movements. But she is expected to live a full, long life and make great progress in her movement with physical therapy!
